Sapphire: The trawler struck a mine and sank with the loss of a crew member

3rd March

Cornish Coast: The coaster collided with the interned Jeanette Woermann ( Germany) and sank with the loss of six of her fourteen crew.

HMT Rondo: The naval trawler was wrecked off the Shetland Islands. Her crew survived.

4th March

Nore Lighthship sank. Her crew were rescued.

5th March

HMT Calliope II: The naval trawler collided with another vessel off the Butt of Lewis and sank with the loss of a crew member.

Dongola: The ship was driven ashore in Porthkerry Bay. Her passengers were taken off by two Royal Navy patrol ships. She was subsequently refloated.

6th March

Glendalough: The schooner sprang a leak and foundered.

HMT John Sherburn: The naval trawler ran aground.

7th March

Bengrove: The collier was torpedoed and sunk by SM U-20 ( Walther Schweiger): All 33 crew were rescued.

8th March

Aberdon: The cargo ship was torpedoed and sunk by SM U-12 ( Kaiserliche Marine) with the loss of fifteen crew.

Blackwood: The cargo ship was torpedoed and sunk by SM U-35 ( Kaiserliche Marine). Her crew survived.

Princess Victoria: The cargo ship was sunk by SM U-20 ( Kaiserliche Marine). Her crew survived.

Tangistan : The cargo ship was torpedoed and sunk with the loss of 37 of her 38 crew.  

10th March

HMT Manx Hero: Naval trawler Mined and sunk.

11th March

HMS Bayano: Armed merchant cruiser torpedoed and sunk by SM U-27( (Bernd Wegener).196 lives lost - 14 officers, 124 ratings and 59 merchant seamen:Twenty-six survivors were rescued.

Florazan: Cargo ship torpedoed and damaged by SM U-20 with the loss of a crew member. She sank on 13th March.

12th March

Andalusian: Cargo ship scuttled by SM U-29. Her crew survived.

Headlands: Cargo ship torpedoed and sunk by SM U-29. Her crew survived.

Indian City: cargo ship was sunk by SM U-29. Her crew survived.[26]

INVERGYLE: Admiralty collier Torpedoed and sank by U.23 (Hans Schulthess)

13th March

HMT G.M.V: Naval trawler collided with another and sank.Skipper William Woodgate RNR

Hartdale: Cargo ship torpedoed and sunk by SM U-27 with the loss of two of her crew.

Invergyle: Collier was sunk by SM U-23. Her crew survived.

14th March

HMT Orlando: Naval trawler, Ran ashore and wrecked Skipper Frederick Mercer RNR

15th March

Fingal: The cargo ship was torpedoed and sunk by SM U-23 with the loss of six crew.

17th March

Leeuwarden: Coaster was captured, shelled and sunk by SM U-28. Her crew survived.

18th March

Clara: The ketch got into difficulties. Her two crew were rescued.

Glenartney: Cargo ship torpedoed and sunk by SM U-34 with the loss of one of her 40 crew.

Delmira: Cargo ship was intercepted by SM U-37. An attempt was made to scuttle her but it did not succeed. Delmira subsequently drifted ashore. Later salvaged, repaired and returned to service.

Tamar: Cargo ship shelled and sunk by SMS Kronprinz Wilhelm.

27th March

Aguila: Cargo liner torpedoed and sunk by SM U-28 with the loss of eight lives.

Coleby: Cargo ship shelled and sunk by SMS Kronprinz Wilhelm.

South Point: Cargo ship torpedoed and sunk by SM U-28. Her crew survived.

Vosges: Cargo ship shelled and sunk by SM U-28 with the loss of a crew member

Falaba: Ocean liner torpedoed and sunk by U-28 with the loss of 104 lives

Dakar: Cargo ship caught fire and sank on 31 March.

Flaminian: Cargo ship shelled and sunk by SM U-28. Her crew survived.

Crown of Castile: Cargo ship scuttled by SM U-28. 43 crew members rescued

HMT Trygon: Naval trawler In collision with SS Myrtle Grove.
